Wyarama Shorthorns

 A Little History.....

Wyarama was developed in 1957, by Trevor and Murray Richards. The country was prodomiantly low timber native bush and yacca, with the soil type mainly sandy loam. Having a shallow water table and a steady annual rainfall of 16"-18" , the country was renovated with lucerne and other grasses.

The Shorthorn commercial herd was established in 1957 with shorthorn bulls being introduced to build up the female breeding herd. The soul purpose then was to fatten steers on the lucerne and sell fat to the markets.

The Wyarama  Stud was founded in 1967 . The aim was to upgrade our commercial herd and breed replacement sires, with other bloodlines introduced frequently to gain new genetics and traits.

In 1972 Wyarama cattle entred the showing arena. Wyarama bulls and females have gained Champions at Sydney, Melbourne and Victoria since. The bulls most noted in our registered history were Wyarama Pepper and his son Wyarama Vicar whose genetics have been introduced into many herds in Australia and Overseas.
